Entries are open for the 12th edition of New Zealand’s most prestigious trail ultra on Saturday 8 February 2020. Part of the #UltraTrailWorldTour.
Runners can complete the 20km, 50km, 102km distances, or the 100 Mile Endurance Run. The event is based in Rotorua New Zealand. There are seven lakes, forests, waterfalls and the most stunning scenery imaginable.
The spectacular course will also take you through places of immense cultural significance to Maori people, the indigenous people of New Zealand.
Over 2000 participants with more than 800 international athletes will compete. Some of the world’s best elite trail ultra runners take part. A great first-time challenge, some will run for the personal challenge, train like never before and enjoy that medal at the finish line. The courses are not too hilly. They are runnable, scenic and point to point. Every finisher receives a beautiful medal at the finish-line or pounamu pendant for the 100-mile finishers.
The 102km Tarawera Ultramarathon and the 100 Miler are both qualification races for the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. The 50km, 102km and the 100 Miler will be are qualifying races for UTMB races.
There are generous cutoff times and the aid stations have more food and drinks than you can imagine. This is a five-day long event week. Enjoy a packed schedule including tours, powhiri welcome, expo and prizegivings.
