862 to Kathmandu

The story of how a properly average runner took on and conquered the inaugural Capital to Country Ultra Marathon in Nepal.
Intrigued by a single Facebook post, Owen soon found himself preparing for the adventure of a lifetime. He’d fallen for it right away.
With 862 miles of training runs around Northampton and its surrounding countryside under his belt, Owen was Kathmandu bound. As the inaugural “Capital to Country Ultra Marathon” was about to unfold in all its glory, from the beautiful Sankhu Gate to the east of the city and 123 miles into the foothills beyond, the inclines lay in wait.
Get inspired by how Owen, who has regularly come last in trail runs around the UK, took on and conquered those mountains, over a 5-day period, and where the group’s guide suggested “If you want flat, don’t come to Nepal!”
