Fastest female to run a marathon on each continent and the North Pole, 4x Guinness WR holder, 50 years vegan and co-owner of Tower Hill Stables has had a tough time over the past few years to keep going and running the Animal Sanctuary. Fiona and her partner really want to carry on for as long as they can for the sake of all their 400 rescues.
To this end, Fiona is going to take on a monumental running challenge this December and will attempt to run 25 miles a day – EVERY DAY – from the 1st to the 25th on December in the hope of raising as much as we can to help the sanctuary through the Winter months when the feed costs escalate – but also and extremely importantly, to show that she can do all the daily sanctuary work as WELL as run this distance demonstrating that living as a Vegan for over 50 years she is not just “surviving” but “thriving” !
This is a very very big ask, as the December workload is HUGE at the sanctuary
Over the first 25 days in December Fiona is aiming to run a colossal 625 miles – as converting this to pounds, its approximately the cost of feeding the animals for a single day – and that’s during the Summer – it only gets worse in the winter!
Best of all – they have a backing sponsor for this challenge who will be DOUBLING everything raised by Fiona – this makes it a fantastic opportunity to really ensure that we can make it to 2025 any beyond.
